What is Lampwork Glass?
Jumpin Jewels takes advantage of the beautiful qualities of lampwork glass (the larger beads). They are exquisite, unique and often the inspiration for the color patterns and the designs you see on this site. Glass bead making (or lampworking) is an ancient art that has been practiced for more than 3,000 years. The art of glass bead making is done by winding molten glass around a steel rod called a mandrel. This is often referred to as "Lampworking". This name is derived from the early glass bead makers in Venice who used oil lamps as their heat source for melting the glass. Today lampworking is usually done with a fuel gas and oxygen torch and a few hand tools. Although the basic tools have changed, the tricks and techniques used to form and decorate the glass haven't changed much over the centuries. Artist-made, lampworked glass beads are one of a kind, and are considered to be artwork that is wearable. No two beads are exactly identical. If you own lampwork beads in jewelry you can be sure that you own a one of a kind piece of art!

How long does it take to complete
my order once it has been registered online or via phone?
Many of Jumpin Jewels jewelry items are already in
stock and ready for shipment. We try to ship those orders out within 24 hours
of placement via Priority Mail. There are times when the order has to be made,
which can take between 2-5 business days to complete. Large orders may take
longer for completion (between 1-2 weeks). If there is a delay in shipment Jumpin Jewels
will notify you via email. Please let us know if you have a deadline and Jumpin Jewels
will do our best to accommodate you.
Why are Jumpin Jewels designs always
changing?
There are a few reasons for this.
One is that we always want to stay on top of today's ever changing fashion colors
and styles. The other is that we purchase our components from many different
places all over the world. At times, the components we incorporated into our
designs are no longer available. In that case, we often try to use similar beads
to produce the same affect. Often this leads us to new and more elegant designs.
I see a design I like but I
would like it in different colors. Can you make custom jewelry?
We always try to please our customers
in any way we can. This means being flexible when we can. Please contact Jumpin Jewels via phone or email and we can discuss the options that are available.
Please note that larger orders may take longer to fill if any of the jewelry items are customized.
Can I buy your jewelry wholesale?
Jumpin Jewels will sell jewelry wholesale to legitimate businesses. In order to establish your business account, please fax or mail us a list of three credit references and your bank reference on your company's letterhead. Please allow two weeks for your references to respond to our request for information. Once you have been approved, we will give you a wholesalers code which you will enter when registering. This code will allow you to see and buy all available items at wholesale prices.
